To help keep students, staff and visitors safe in the workplace, Facilities has updated BookIT — the platform used for reserving meeting space – to reflect the reduced capacity for conference and meeting rooms. New signage with the reduced number of occupants allowed will also be posted on doors.
“We want people to stay healthy and socially distance themselves in meeting rooms and conference rooms,” said Eileen Wiley, Facilities manager, Penn State College of Medicine. “People need to remain vigilant and stay at least six feet apart from one another. Anyone who schedules a room or leads a meeting should pay close attention to the space that the room can hold for now. The updated capacities within BookIT will help remind and guide schedulers about this.”
Wiley explained that BookIT reflects the number of people who would sit six feet apart in the preferred layout for each room. The capacity listed in BookIT may not always reflect other possible layouts and uses.
The changes reflected within BookIT and through the new room capacity signage will affect Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Penn State College of Medicine, Crystal A and the University Park Curriculum Track in State College. Those who use any meeting rooms that are not included in BookIT should still adhere to social distancing guidelines.
Wiley also noted that administrative and other meetings should continue to be held virtually through Zoom whenever possible.
