The H.G. Barsumian, MD, Memorial Fund awards grants to organizations that conduct medical research. Although the funding guidelines are very broad, the fund has generally supported projects where the clinical relevance of the proposed research is clearly evident.
The average grant size is $25,000, and an average of five grants are awarded per year. There are no geographic limitations; however, the trust has a practice of primarily supporting organizations located near Lancaster, Pa., the hometown of founders Jane Barsumian and Mary Lyons.
Wells Fargo Philanthropic Services, which manages the fund, accepts applications year-round; however, applications must be received by May 30 to be reviewed at the annual grant meeting, which will be held in July 2020.
Investigators interested in this funding opportunity should note that grant applications are reviewed by a Wells Fargo grant administration committee of non-scientific reviewers.
