Penn State Commission for Women seeks nominations for 3C Award

Penn State Commission for Women is now accepting nominations for its annual 3C Award (Commitment, Community, Change).

Since 2013, this award has recognized the significant effort of an individual, regardless of gender, whose work and volunteer efforts have impacted the advancement of women within or outside the University in any of the following areas:

  • Commitment: Demonstrating commitment toward supporting the growth of women through education, mentorship, leadership or opportunity
  • Community: Addressing the needs of women and girls or promoting female initiatives in the community
  • Change: Championing change, advocating and creating impact regarding women’s issues

The award is open to all faculty, staff, fellows, trainees and students.

Nomination deadline is Feb. 7, 2020. The honoree will receive flowers, a certificate and a monetary award ($100) during Women’s History Month in March.

The 2019 3C Award was given to Dr. Cynthia Chuang, who was nominated by her peers for support of her departmental female colleagues.

Dr. Jennifer Kraschnewski wrote in her nomination of Dr. Chuang, “She is quick to identify professional development for all of her faculty, however, remains particularly focused on ensuring women within her division have a ‘seat at the table.'” Dr. Chuang’s dedication and efforts toward women’s health and women’s health care rights was also recognized.
